기승경력 6회의 카타리나 니베커 Katharina Niebecker기수(17세)는 지극히 소극적인 기승이유를 묻는 재결 위원의 질문에 자신이 기승한 서아이반호 Sir Ivanhoe가 다음 경주에서 낮은 부담중량을 받을 수 있도록 최후미에서 달리라는 조교사의 지시를 받았다고 진술했다.
이로써 조교사 안드레아 볼테 Andreas Bolte는 18개월간의 면허 정지, 견습 기수 니베커는 6개월의 기승정지 처분을 받았다고 영국의 레이싱 포스트지가 7월 5일 보도했다.
지난 1월 12일, 독일의 뒤셀도르프 근교에 있는 너이스 Neuss 경마장.
마이너 레이스 minor race로 펼쳐진 경주에서 서아이반호 Sir Ivanhoe는 억제 당한 주행으로 시종 졸전을 펼치며 우승마로부터 49 마신 뒤 처져 일곱 마리 중 다섯 번째로 결승선을 통과했다. 재결은 즉각 해당기수를 소환했고 이같이 제재를 결정했다.
볼테 조교사의 반응은 즉각 알려지지 않았지만 지난 주 열린 재정 위원회의 청문회 결과 독일경마협회에 의해 면허 정지 처분을 받는 첫 번째 조교사가 되었다.
약물사용으로 인한 제재의 경우에도 집행 유예 처분에 그쳤던 전례에 비춰보면 이번 조치는 중형에 가깝다는게 데이비드 커널리 기자의 의견이다.
통산 120여두 이상의 우승마를 길러냈고 현재 독일 북부 Lengerich에서 44두의 마필을 관리하고 있는 볼테 조교사는 기수의 증언 내용을 부인하는 가운데 상소할 것으로 알려졌다.
한편 니베커 기수는 판결에 불복해 상소하면서 당시의 증언은 심리적인 쇼크 상태에서 이뤄졌다고 주장했다. 그러나 그녀의 기승 정지 처분은 변경되지 않았다.

The trouble began for Bolte when the stewards called in his apprentice, Katharina Neubecker, after Sir Ivanhoe had finished 49 lengths behind the winner when fifth of seven in a minor race on dirt at Neuss on January 12 when appearing to have been held back.
It became considerably worse for the trainer when Neubecker, 17, having only her sixth ride in public, appeared before the stewards. Asked to explain her very passive riding, she said her instructions were to race in last and stay there, so that Sir Ivanhoe would receive a low handicap rating.
Neubecker was handed an immediate six-month ban while Bolte, whose immediate response to Neubecker's unusually forthright declaration is unknown and probably unprintable, became the first trainer ever to be suspended by the German Jockey Club when the disciplinary committee finally caught up with him at a hearing last week. In previous serious cases - usually involving misuse of medication - trainers have been given only a suspended sentence.
Neubecker, in the meantime, had appealed against the severity of her sentence, claiming that her original evidence was incorrect as she was suffering psychological shock. Her ban was confirmed.
Bolte, who was training 44 horses at Lengerich in northern Germany, is expected to appeal and has denied the charge made by his apprentice. He has trained more than 120 winners.

Als siegreicher Trainer im zweiten Rennen um den Preis des Kreissportbundes Neuss stand der Trainer Dr.Andreas Bolte bei der Siegerehrung. Donnerstag muß er sich in Koln vor dem Renngericht des Dachverbandes veranworten, es geht um ein Rennen vom 12. Januar 2002 in Neuss, als er seiner Azubi Katharina Niebecker angeblich die Anweisung erteilte, mit dem Pferd Sir Ivanhoe Letzte zu werden.
